The Legal Metrology Act, of 2009 was implemented in India to establish consistent weight and measurement standards. Beginning on April 1, 2011, the Act went into effect. The area of metrology known as "legal metrology" examines measurement units, measurement techniques, and measurement instruments about the necessary legal and technical requirements to guarantee the public's assurance of the security and accuracy of the measurements and weights. There are several tiers of legal aid, with provisions for poor, uneducated, and physically disabled people who cannot access the legal system because they lack the necessary funds or legal knowledge. Legal aid under the Act is available to anybody who meets the requirements outlined in Section 12 of the Act.  November 9, 2009, was designated as National Legal Service Day (NLSD), marking the day the law went into effect. According to the Act, legal assistance must be given by the State, District, and Taluk Legal Service Authorities/Commissions established around the nation to recommit to ensure everyone has fairness and equality of opportunity.
